Tuition Schedule & Policy
NEW STUDENTS AND PARENTS
All new students and parents are welcomed for consultations and observations before the registration. All new students and the parents are required to attend the orientation meeting before the first lesson ($60 fee is required for teacher's time).
Parents, as “home teachers,” are an important part of the learning triangle (teacher-parent-student). Please attend lessons with student regularly and supervise daily home practices. Taking notes, video/audio recording during lessons are permitted and recommended to help both student and parent to recall the previous week’s lesson as well as the records of progress. In order to equip the parents to be the best home teachers, I’ll be offering parent discussion meetings throughout the year.
The curriculum includes performance technique, repertoire studies, ear training, music theory and history, general musicianship, and much more. Each student will have individually designed curriculum to suit the need to improve his/her musicianship. The weekly lessons are given in thirty (30), forty-five (45), or sixty (60) minute increments depending on the level.
Thirty minute lessons are designed for the students with no prior piano studies and the curriculum may last 3 to 6 months. The students with previous piano lesson experiences receive forty-five minute or longer lessons to cover all materials properly .
ENRICHMENT CLASSES (PERFORMANCE, THEORY & MUSICIANSHIP)
Student's private lessons are supplemented by group classes held once a month, except during the summer months and holidays, and the participation is a vital part of student’s motivation, musical development, and general musicianship. These classes offer students opportunities play in masterclass setting as well as fun activities to re-enforce music theory and general musicianship trainings. Group classes also provide students with the social environment that is non-competitive, non-threatening, and motivating to every participants.
If a new student doesn’t fit into current classes that are already in progress, a new group class for that level will be offered as soon as there are three students of similar level.
Students at all levels may participate in piano duets, and students who play at intermediate level and above will have opportunities to play piano and instrumental ensemble.
Debbie Lee Piano Studio provides twelve-month, year-round program. During the summer break, all students must enroll for six lessons to ensure steady progress. Also, the qualifying students may participate in summer institutes. Please check with the teacher for specific institute.
MUSIC LENDING LIBRARY
All students have access to the lending library. The lending library adds variety to student repertoire and gives students access to a wide selection of pieces without the added expense of acquiring music for a one-time event, such as sight reading and duet repertoire. Students may check the music out as often as necessary, but must agree not to photocopy copyrighted material. Music must be returned in good condition and damaged music will be replaced by the student. Also, other books are available in general music studies, music history, including biographies of composers, music theory, etc. All students are required to purchase their primary books.
ATTENDANCE & MISSED LESSONS
Students are expected to come to lessons well-prepared, having practiced and given their best effort to all instruction. Please be on time for your lesson, and tardiness to lesson is loss of instruction time. Students are charged for all lessons for which they register, including those missed by student. All teacher absences or cancellations due to professional obligations and conferences, teacher's illness, or emergencies, will be made up. Rescheduled lessons are arranged at a mutually convenient time for the student and the teacher.
